Assisted Living Facility Cited for Fire Safety Violations

Fire Safety Violations

This article about an administrator of an assisted living facility who deactivated the fire alarm in the facility is incredible.  Can you imagine someone doing this?  I hope that this assisted living facility employee was immediately terminated.  Placing the lives of the elderly at risk like this is quasi-criminal.  People generally do not understand how often fires occur at nursing homes and Assisted Living Facilities.  This article goes on to say that officials “levied a total of $125,000 in administrative fines in May against 44 assisted-living facilities.”

I personally represented the family of a woman who burned alive in the NHC fire in Nashville.  During the NHC fire litigation, there were several other Tennessee-based nursing home fires that broke out but fortunately were contained.

Thankfully the local firefighters discovered the violation(s) in this case.
